I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with wax monoprints. You can either paint the wax on your plate, use a wax stick (enkaustikos), or an oil stick. For your plate, use a clean griddle, a griddle with an anodized aluminum top, or buy a piece of an aluminum from enkaustikos/Rochester Art Supply, and place it on your griddle. Use heat-resistant tools that won't scratch your plate. This is the fun part-I love discovering new ways to make marks! Almost any paper will work but an absorbent print making paper will be crisp.
I focus on loose gestural marks, and love moving with my music. It's a dance with warm wax!
